Update Database?

I have the most current version of WP and this plugin, which has been working perfectly for years. (Thank you for that.)

However, I just noticed that it’s not working now, and I need to update the database.

Will updating the database only affect this plugin and nothing else?

Will updating the database make it work as it has previously?
