Updating 7.0.1 -> 7.0.2 got the following error message:

Update Failed: Warning: require_once(/var/sites/w/websiteurl.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/../vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/init.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/sites/w/websiteurl.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/bootstrap.php on line 13 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/var/sites/w/websiteurl.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/../vendor/wordfence/wf-waf/src/init.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/newage/lib/php’) in /var/sites/w/websiteurl.co.uk/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordfence/waf/bootstrap.php on line 13

Went back to plugins to try again and it now shows as Wordfence v7.0.2.

Any idea why this occurred? Does this mean I can ignore the update failure message?

  • Hi Elaine,
It seems like the update was broken for unknown reason, could you please try reinstalling the plugin and re-check this issue? You can just delete it then re-install it again via WordPress Dashboard.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Even though there was an error the plugin appears to have updated and now shows as v7.0.2. It appears to be working fine, even ran a scan.

Do you think I should still uninstall and reinstall?

    Elaine

    Hi,
Yes, I recommend reinstalling the plugin to make sure all the files are updated correctly even if there is not any symptoms of broken update at the moment.

    Thanks.
