Updated Glossy Stylo theme and customized header and footer disappeared. Also on the Themes page, says Glossy Stylo is Broken – template missing. Can’t find where to dowload again to find the missing files?? Can anyone help. Not a techy – need simple instructions. Thanks.

But I found no any problem in your site and design also which means that your theme work fine with no any problem and nothing is missing I think.

can you try to disable the plugin one by one then check after each time you disable one you check the message if its still there or not.

do u have backup? any back for the theme,

u need to back then create child theme then merge the CSS to your files then update, or copy the costume CSS to some where safe then u replace in same place after update, do u have child theme?
do you want me to create 1 for you?

sadly if you don’t have backup you need to create that again as I think

@webparroteer, You can’t do this stuff for people on these forums, or any forums. It’s a limitation of forums in general. All you can do is give advice. If people can’t take your advice then they just have to accept it (not saying Corriee Lee can’t take your advice). If they need any further support they can hire someone at http://jobs.wordpress.net .

@corrie Lee, if you hadn’t previously modified the theme’s files have you tried deactivating all your plugins to explore whether any could be responsible?

Our webmaster moved away. We don’t have any tech support for our small community non-profit website. I tried deactivating the plug ins. I am not sure if the theme was modified. We had a header with our logo and a contact us button and a footer with our community sponsor logos. It is all gone. I am trying to download the back up files but the password is not working. I have left WordPress Backup a message to see what to do. Quite frustrating 🙁
    Thanks for your help.

WebParroteer? I’ve deleted that last post, please do not encourage people to contact you off forum like that. That’s really discouraged here. Please keep support on the forums.

*Drinks more coffee so’s to try and help our Corrie Lee*

    Coffee is always good. 😉

Visiting your link I get sent to this URL

Like WebParroteer looks alright to me.

    *Checks theme style.css*

Your web server is behaving a little oddly. When I visit http://www.fenelonfalls.info/WP/wp-content/themes/glossy-stylo/ I get a 500 error. I should get a 404 File Not Found or a 403 Not Authorized.

We had a customized header and footer that disappeared when the theme was updated. The message is only in the themes.

If you have a backup then for a short term fix you’ll need to extract your backup somewhere off of your web server (you don’t want to restore the whole works on our web server since your site is working) and separate the /WP/wp-content/themes/glossy-stylo/ directory. Then try these steps.

    1. Using FTP or whatever file management tools your host has provided you with navigate to the wp-content/themes directory.
    2. Locate and backup the glossy-stylo directory to your PC. This is a safety precaution in case you change your mind.
    3. Once once you have made that backup (don’t skip that step) then delete that one glossy-styli directory. Just that one directory and do not delete anything else.
    4. Using the original backup copy of that glossy-stylo (the one with the customized header and footer) re-upload that one directory so that it replaces the new one.
    5. Login to your WordPress dashboard and visit the Appearance menu to confirm that the theme is activated.

That may be a little daunting for you. Show this topic to your hosting company and they may be able to help you out.

The better solution would be to create and activate a child theme and put your customizations there.

    https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Child_Themes

With a child theme updating the parent theme will not lose your changes.

YAy- we got it back. Thanks everyone for your help. Had an old copy of a backup that we pulled the coding from. We really need to find a new webmaster because I suck at this. LOL Have a great day.

Jan, Hope you are doing Great today, I’m trying my over my best always to help here, and in all my posts, and when I say help I don’t mean money.

My point is that Corrie Lee may be she is a lawyer or doctor and she don’t have time with this but she had pain already from it, from this need to get over it while we are talking she might lose client or something.

Any way I wish here to fix soon and I wish to see this marked as resolved sometime.
