“Update failed: Could not create directory”

    I tried to update the plugin today (06-29-2023), and got this message:
    Update failed: Could not create directory. /home/… /wp-content/upgrade/wpforms-lite.1.8.2.2

    Now the plugin doesn’t work. The messages don’t come through. They forward to a page that says the message has been sent, but the emails don’t arrive.

    I couldn’t update to the latest version, and now the previous version doesn’t work.

    Is this a temporary bug?

    The issue is resolved. It was either a bad setting (or a good one that fell in with the wrong company), and I restored from a backup or that I had run out of space, and had to delete some older backups.
    In either case, the plugin updated fine, and the forms work.
    It would be nice if the error message were more specific.
