Having just gone to update the plugin today – my website showed as “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Try again in a minute.” After some time I managed to get back in and now the Wordfence plugin has deleted itself too. The Dashboard shows “An automated WordPress update has failed to complete – please attempt the update again now.” This doesn’t work.

A diagnostic will help me evaluate the issue you are facing.
Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.
NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email
