Update Failed due to file copy error

    I’m attempting to update from 2.9.84 to 2.9.86, and it’s failing due to:

    “Update Failed: The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.”

    The permissions on the download-manager directory, plugins directory, and wp-content directory appear fine, but I don’t know where it’s attempting to copy files to/from. Can you provide more info so I know what permissions to check?

    Hi,
    You need to contact your server/hosting support for that. However, alternatively, you can deactivate wpdm and delete ( from FTP ) the download-manager folder, then install the latest version. The process will not harm your data.
