Update Help from 1.42.2

Using 1.42.2. Plugin stopped showing listings on the CMS, so we can only update through the front-end. I tried updating the plugin to 2.1.8 and that just eliminated all of our custom styling. Was able to restore but now I’m at square one again. Please advise on how we can proceed without completely re-coding our listings templates.
