Hi Milan, believe it or not I am still using your older Version 1.9.22 even today. It still works like a charm even though its 4 years outdated.

I just came across this page and I couldn’t believe it when I saw you finally returned after all those years!

My question is, how can I update from 1.9.22 to your current version?
Wordpress doesn’t ask me to. If I just download the new plugin delete the old one and upload this new one… what will happen???

I don’t wanna loose my ratings, I have tens of thousands of precious ratings!

Please instruct me how to update.

    Thanks

I am preparing migration article, and it will be finished early next week, so it is best to stop by Dev4Press Support Knowledge Base after Monday and check it out.

wow, thanks for the fast response Milan. I just saw in the plugin description that Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down ratings are now available only in the paid version??
Is that true? Because if thats true then I would rather not “update” at all and I would just continue to use 1.9.22. Having functions removed from a plugin is definitely not an update for me but rather a downgrade/regression.

    Thanks

Using GD Star Rating is a security risk and it is not developed since WordPress 3.5 (almost 4 years ago).

GD Rating System is not the update for GD Star Rating, it is completely new plugin built from zero without any code shared with old plugin. It works differently and it is built to be modular and easier to expand.

One of the reasons old plugin failed is because it was free. It needed a lot of development time and the only way to cover that is to have Pro plugin version.

    Regards,
    Milan
