Update internal links not working

I’m stuck with the “Update internal links” because I supposed it would change the old link referring to the static html pages with the new wordpress link of the imported page. So I should not manually change the link to the other pages. Is this the right meaning of the flag?
Because it doesn’t change any links, by now.
