I got a notice that there was a new version, and when I tried to update I got an error: update failed, cannot create directory. Of course, the message didn’t bother to tell me what directory it was trying to create. I changed the permissions on my entire wp-content/plugins directory to 777 but that didn’t help. The error left my site in maintenance mode, but I know how to delete the .maintenance file.

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

I assume that this is related to a bug in WordPress 4.4 that came up recently: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/ticket/34976

This is not caused by TablePress, so that I can only suggest that you do a manual update here (i.e. replace the tablepress folder with that from the downloaded ZIP file via FTP), until the WordPress issue is fixed.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Well, that looks like a mess, LOL. I’ll do the manual update.

    Thanks,

Trying to install through WordPress by uploading the zip file also failed. Unzipping the distro file and uploading with FTP worked.

    Thanks for the excellent support!

    Hi,

yes, that indicates that you might be affected by the WordPress issue. :-/
Good to hear that the method with unzipping first worked 🙂

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

P.S.: In case you haven’t, please rate TablePress here in the plugin directory. Thanks!
