Updates?

We’re trying to find a tournaments plug-in for WordPress and this looks perfect. However says it was last updated 5 years ago. In testing, keep getting a json error when placing [bracket] on a page. Need a little more clarification on how / what to use for the shortcode and a break-out of what classes can be used. May be an older plug-in, but still has need even today.
