    Hello,
when I updated my wordpress manually in following the described way
then at last I have to update the database after logging in.
I push the button, then it says: Updating database and “The update process may take a little while”.
Thats really VERY helpful. What approx is “a while”?
Seconds, minutes, 15 to 30 minutes, 1 to 2 hours?
Maybe some progress bar might help.
Everybody is interpreting this sentence different.
And dont tell me, its depending on the system.
Most of us has W7 and any core 5 to 7 or higher, so you can give
this time as an “About-Value” for some system like this.
In my case, system is hanging up after a while without any further
    message.
    Really NOT helpful!

You may not like the answer. 😉

It really does depend on the system and the majority of WordPress installations are on a shared host. Not all hosts are the same and if you’re on a $5/month plan then yes, the database upgrade can “take a little while”.

That’s not something that can really be determined programmatically because of all those variables.

Did your database upgrade complete successfully?

I surely understand, that there is no exact time possible.
But I would say, if you talk about some medium constellation
and on a local! host one can get an idea for that time.

No, could not update the database.
It hangs up after a while without any further message.
    Any idea?

Thanks for your try to help!
