It looks pretty basic…no way to help without seeing what happens after you update. Did you maybe take any screenshots before putting it back? It’s likely it’s just settings…I think Evolve has the ability to export settings…try saving the settings, and importing them after the update maybe? Shot in the dark since we don’t really know what doesn’t update right.
Hi Donna,
I went ahead and saved the settings and upgraded from 2.6.4 to 3.8.2. I also uploaded my saved settings afterward and it still looks terrible. I took screenshots but do not see an attachment button on this forum. Do you know how I can share them? In the meantime, I am restoring the site backup again. Any advice would be helpful.
can you put the files in a cloud account and link to them? Like Google drive, or one drive, or dropbox, or anything like that? Is it possible a plugin is interfering? And I guess there’s another update, after the 3.8.2 …I think I saw something out today, but I haven’t gone to that site yet…but I’ll look in to it. And did you have your Redux framework up to date as well? As soon as my backup finishes, I’ll do mine…I wasn’t really planning on doing work this weekend, but I’ll do it for you.
UPDATE:
I ran the 3.8.2 update with no issues. Please provide a link to screenshots. You may possibly have a plugin conflict.

Well, I got the white screen of death with the newest evolve theme (3.8.2). Godaddy said it doesn’t support the newest version, so I am scrambling to put up a different theme so my customer doesn’t miss any users. I am so disappointed.
That’s crazy, my site is hosted on godaddy, and it’s working just fine. Godaddy doesn’t support the newest version of “what” …because they don’t have anything to do with the wordpress software really…that’s just absurd. If you want me to look at it, click on my avatar, go to my profile, click on my website, and go to contact page, and I’ll take a look at it.
For one thing, you have some major design issues on your site that are likely causing issues…your header image is off the page for some reason, and you have too much text in your menu bars for it to fit on one line, you either need to cascade the categories, or lose some text…to begin with. Themes don’t work miracles…you have to incorporate some common sense in there too…You can reduce the font size, or cut them to single word links, privacy notice can go on the footer, it doesn’t need to be on the header, “community involvement” …think of something else if “community” won’t do it for you…and the Pickard & Ross thing at the top…waaaaaaay too big.
Yeah,
I didn’t build this site; I inherited it for updates. The original site designer is no longer working with the law firm. Here is the message go daddy sent me concerning the white screen of death. I am currently scrambling to put a different theme up just in the interim.
Per Go Daddy:
Hi Valued Customer,
This is Dusan from the GoDaddy WPPS Team. I will be working on your ticket.
Per your recent request we have checked your WP website lawpickard.com and detected the reason of your white screen of death – It is caused by your theme. I did a backup of your website, and switched the theme to Twenty Fourteen (found among your installed themes).
The white screen of death dissapeared after that action. You can that your website is live again – If you still see white screen, please delete the cache from your browser.
You will have to find another solution for the theme on your website or to contact manufacturer to see if they may have some solution or reason why is this happening on your website.

She’s useless! The site is not that complicated. And if you put another theme, you won’t fix this problem. It’s a very simple, free theme, there isn’t much to it.
I’ll take a look and help you if you want, it’s up to you. Or press on. I actually have the least issues with this site than most of my sites…with the exception of the 3.8 update issues, (which weren’t really issues, he just forgot not to install the demo content by default, and it was a settings fix even before he re-did the update) I really have very little problems updating my site. This is my client’s site with Evolve: http://ajbusinesscenter.com which is now running version 3.8.2 ON GODADDY.

do you have wordfence on the site? If you don’t, install that plugin and scan…because it will scan for any plugin content that is outdated and maybe not maintained on ww.wp.xz.cn …if you have other old stuff, it could be crashing the site.
@ktsherb2017 — GoDaddy isn’t telling you that there is a problem with this theme; they are telling you that they don’t support any custom themes. It’s not a problem with the theme, but simply that it is beyond the scope of the hosting company’s support to try to debug the theme.
If you want to continue using evolve. I would suggest the following:
1. If possible, create a development copy of the site to work on.
2. Install the WP Rollback plugin. As you work on the site, use that plugin to upgrade and rather than going from 2.6.4 to 3.8.1, work incrementally. I’d start with a 2.6.4 to 3.0.0 upgrade first, if that works, then try a higher version. That will help narrow down the point where things start to break. (But caution – read the theme’s changelog so you don’t inadvertently select a release that had a bug — the changelog will also give you clues as to which versions introduced changes that might impact site layout.
I think that the big problem is trying to make such a major upgrade from a much older version of the site. Although you said that the site had not been updated since 2014, the 2.6.4 theme is actually older than that. V 2.6.4 was issued in November 2013, and apparently had some bugs, because v. 2.7.0 was pushed out 4 days later with “PHP and CSS fixes”.
This is a big project because of the neglect of the site over the years. In your case, it may be less time consuming to start from scratch with a new theme rather than trying to debug the upgrade. You could even do that with evolve — by simply renaming the existing installation to something else, and then doing a clean install of the current evolve theme. That would give you the ability to essentially do a side-by-side comparison by switching back and forth between old and new theme.
