Updating Theme – What Now?

    Using WordPress version 3.9.

    So I have a theme update to do and I’m not sure now to proceed since I’ve installed W3 Total Cache.

    Do I deactivate it first and edit out the ton of stuff it added to htaccess while I work or what? Do I export my settings and uninstall it altogether? I’m clueless here.
