What about I localize it, then you can make a translation in your own language.
It doesn’t look like the author is active and it looks like an active fork is welcome.

If you like, I can put it in WP repository (on ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins).
It would require a rewrite. Its old code, luckily jQuery hasn’t changed much since.
