    I just started getting this message in UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore

    Warning: WordPress has a number (9) of scheduled tasks which are overdue. Unless this is a development site, this means that the scheduler in your WordPress install is not working properly. Read this page for a guide to possible causes and how to fix it.

    Warning: The scheduler is disabled in your WordPress install, via the DISABLE_WP_CRON setting. No backups can run (even “Backup Now”) unless either you have set up a facility to call the scheduler manually, or until it is enabled. Go here for more information.
    Would you know what I can do about this?

    Thank you for much for the easy instructions.
    I have not added it yet – wanted to show you first – does this seem correct?

    Also, I have not done the mu-plugins/wp-staging-optimizer.php deactivating – because I do not think I have this – I checked the plugin area – I have the WP Stagging plugin – not “optimizer.php”
    Thank you

    The only thing I wanted to check about your cron is the command path

    it should be to the wp-cron.php

    so /home/yoursite/public_html/wp-cron.php

    Can you change;

    define(‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, ‘true’);

    to

    define(‘DISABLE_WP_CRON’, ‘false’);

    It should be working by now, how did the DB backup go? Can you post the log?

    Did you try optimising your DB with WordPress Optimize (getwpo.com)?

    Thread Starter gmprre4e3

    (@gmprre4e3)

    I did not do that yet because I was concerned that it could make the website go down. Do you think there is any possibility that could happen? If not I will do it. And is this the one to download?
    https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-optimize/
    Also after I install the plugin is there something specific I need to do? Thank you

    It’s unlikely but not impossible. I would not do it unless you have a backup (I think you mentioned that you might)

    You would go to the Database tab and then press the button that says “run all selected optimizations”

    Ok, I appreciate you letting me know that step.
    I sent an email to the server company to find out about the backup. I used to back up from the C Panel almost every day but was told to stop.
    But even with the backup I am trying to figure out if it is simply going to the Back WIzard area and clicking restore to put the website back if it should go down. Thank you

    Do you have a previous UpdraftPlus backup that you can restore from if it came to the worse.

    I do not. I did backups from the C Panel Back area. I did not realize that I needed to backup with updraft until someone mentioned it to me with a staging website. I did email the host company. I appreciate your help with trying to get Updraft to work. I will contact them again either late today or tomorrow. Thank you.

    Hello
    Sorry for a delay to get to you.
    I wanted to update some plugins before I responded back to you. This is the link to the log just now. Updraft updated in a very time under 10 minutes. Before it was taking hours.
