On a copy of the development site to the staging site
( http://westcon.staging.wpengine.com/) I updated the Connections plugin via the WordPress dashboard and indeed the Directory is now throwing an error:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /nas/wp/www/staging/westcon/wp-content/plugins/connections-westcon-cmap/cmap.php on line 654

Is the Westcon custom template (custom code) not protected from being overwritten by Connections updates, or
did this update invalidate the code/template, or
is the problem with the new version of Connections and the cMap theme
    or is it something else?

In any case we need to identify and fix the problem so the site can continue to be updated as needed. Thank you kindly.

The error is originated from the custom template, not Connections or cMap. Your custom template was not overwritten by the update.

Since it is custom template, it is impossible for me to say exactly what the fix for the error is. The only thing I can say is exactly what the error message is telling you the foreach on line 654 as an error in it. I can also say that the original cMap file does not have a 654. The last line is 578.

Any way, all this to say … if you can share the section of code that is throwing the error, maybe I can tell you the solution.
