Upgrade doesn’t work: unexpected T_ENDSWITCH

    Hey!

    I tried to upgrade my wordpress but it didn’t work!

    After uploading all the files and then running the upgrade.php it said:

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ENDSWITCH in pathtomywebsite upgrade.php on line 79

    Looking in the upgrade.php…There’s no line 79!!

    What is wrong and what am I supposed to do?

    have you tried deleting that file, and reuploading a fresh copy?

    just did it and now i get

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in mywebsitepath/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 397

    well, you need to DELETE that file and reupload a fresh copy of that as well.

    These are text files, and ought to be uploaded in ascii — thats an option inside nearly every ftp client Ive ever come across.

    You can corrupt text files by not uploading that way, and it’s imperative that you do NOT overwrite files. You must delete the old files before you upload. Some ftp clients like to ‘append’ to files that already exist on the server.

    Delete, then upload.

    I have had the same problem. Worked through it as above, replacing the files. Then came up with a further file error – “Fatal error: Call to undefined function: add_filter() in website/wp-includes/default-filters.php on line 4.

    I have tried deleting this file and uploading a fresh copy as ascii. However the same error is repeated each time I perform this action.

    Anyone got a solution.
