Upgrade nightmare
-
I deleted all past events leaving only 46 Upcoming events.
I ran the upgrade from 0.7.12 to 0.8.3, first time attempt.
Only 38 events appeared in Events after the upgrade, so 8 were missing.
Ran the manual upgrade, http://your-site.com/wp-admin/index.php?resume-el-upgr=0.8.0
Events then had 68 Upcoming Events. The previously missing events had re-appeared but many events had also been duplicated. One event was double-duplicated, i.e. it was listed 3 times.
After deleting all the duplicated events, I had 48 Upcoming events – so I’ve gained 2 events but have no idea where from.
Now the worst bit. Prior to the upgrade I physically deleted all Past events in the wp_event_list table via PHPMyAdmin because it was quicker than using the Events interface (that only allowed you to display 20 events per page, so deleting the 1300+ Past events I had would have taken ages).
wp_event_list table only had 46 entries when I ran the upgrade, all Upcoming events, no Past. Event List > All Events confirmed this – there were only 46 events listed.
A few minutes later after the manual upgrade, in looking at Events, I found that the upgrade to 0.8.3 had added back ALL of the deleted Past events – and for good measure, had duplicated loads of them because there were now 2654 Past events (instead of 1394 before I deleted them).
How – and why – did the upgrade add back events that were physically deleted from the wp_event_list table and confirmed as not present by All Events when the upgrade started?
So I’ve now had to go and delete 2654 Past events. Again. Not happy.
