Can you see the wp-includes/wp-db.php on your FTP client?
And check that the filesize is not 0 Kb ..
No i cannot, i may have further messed things up as i tried to put back the original wordpress file, and that no longer seemed to work…i am now putting up the amended one but it does not seem to contain wp-db.php
i think i have totally messed it all up…not really sure where i am.
i apologise i can see it….
still not getting anything for that upgrade file.
the message i get when i search for my blog at the moment is
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: update_user_cache() in /home/.sites/104/site97/web/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 72
i tried to reinstall my old wordpress but no luck there either, would i be better just starting again? would i be able to get my archives up that way.

i am not sure what this means, i suppose a Saturday evening might not be the best evening to find out.
i have been through most of the threads and realise that there is a protocol for posting etc, but really am stuck at what i am doing wrong, i downloaded the wordpress files again and put in the approriate files into it and uploaded but am still getting the same old message when trying to get to the upgrade.php

is it possible to start over again with wordpress and retrieve the old database?
Hello, i know i am rather persistent but am very confused as to what is going wrong.
i am now trying to install WordPress. i can’t even get that to work. Following instructions to the word. i have checked and rechecked all the install.php passwords, name of database etc. and cannot get that to work.

i am not sure what this means though i have tried to think about it.
i have a problem, please tell me how i can get to entry my blog, each time i point the browser at it, it says it’s not there and i get this message when i go to my blog site…
