@ WPyogi The Manual Upgrade seems quite complicated so I’ll stick to my current version. Hopefully the next upgrade will be easier to use and automatically install.
@ ptiswitz Yes, I am the administrator. What “right permissions” are you referring to? None of the other updates have failed until 3.5.1 came on the scene.
What version are you currently using? If there is a problem with your site, I would not expect that a future version will change that.

I’d really suggest you sort out why the update is not working and/or do the manual – it’s a potential security issue to be running an old version. The page I linked to has all the information about checking the permissions and other things you should do before updating (i.e. backup, deactivate plugins). Also, did you try what was suggested in your earlier thread:

I have switched to Twenty Eleven and deactivated all plugins but “Unpacking the update…” is as far as it will go. Can you tell me how long the unpacking lasts? Thanks.
10 or more minutes have elapsed but no progress, just “Downloading update from http://ww.wp.xz.cn/wordpress-3.5.1-new-bundled.zip…” and “Unpacking the update…” quote does not appear. How long does it take to update?
Not that long 🙁 . See if you can do the manual. But just to be sure, you have a good backup and have checked the file permissions as detailed in the article above?

Are You on ftp or sftp? Myself i have got several sites on sftp and it has been hell to get automatic update working untill I discovered a module ssh sftp updater for wordpress.

it gives another option (radio button) i think ssl and the last version is working smoothly.

Thanks for coming in jerrovicke. My server is on FTP. After trying to upgrade switching to Twenty Eleven (which didn’t work) I am now back with Raindrops tidying up reconfiguring my site (theme customising, widgets, etc.). Some mess as if a hurricane had blown everything away :o(
