Try MANUALLY updating to the latest WP 4.6.1.
Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!
Hello, hugobertrand, & welcome to the WordPress support forum. Thanks so much for supplying us w/a site url–it’s so helpful–you likely have no idea how really helpful it is.
Please try renaming your plugins folder by appending a 1 or a .old to the name. You can do so by using either your host provider’s file manager or an FTP (& preferably secure FTP) client. If that does not work, please rename your theme folder by doing likewise. It will break the homepage, but that’s broken anyway. It may well allow you to be able to log in & change the theme to a default theme like twentysixteen, for example.
At that point, you can rename your plugins folder to its original name & see if your site appears again. If so, then your theme is problematic. If not, then rename all plugins inside your plugins folder except for 1. Akismet is likely a good candidate, since it’s basically core. Now try visiting your site & see if it works–you might need to clear your browser cache. If so, then begin renaming the plugins 1 by 1, clearing your browser cache & visiting the site after each rename. When the error occurs, you now know the plugin you just renamed is the culprit.
Please keep in touch to let us know how it went, ok?
Thanks tara for your answer, but I can’t even access my FTP, it reads connexion error.
And I can’t even access my wordpress dashboard,
I think it could be a hosting problem, no? maybe it’s my host.
Is it possible?
hugobertrand, you should check w/your host regarding your FTP credentials.
Oh yeah sorry, actually I was using an old password, now it works fine.
I didn’t get what you mean twit renaming the plugins.
hugobertrand, what we normally ask folks to do is to rename the plugins folder to something like plugins1 or plugins.old. That serves to deactivate it, & if there are plugins that are in conflict w/the new version of WordPress, it then allows the site owner to log in, etc.
Since there’s likely only 1 plugin that’s the problem, then we ask folks to rename the plugins folder back, but put a 1 or a .old at the end of each plugin inside the plugins folder, i.e., akismet1, for example. Because Akismet is basically core, though, we suggest leaving it alone. Then you try logging into your site. If it works, then we know Akismet isn’t the problem, so we rename another folder & try visiting the site again. If the site breaks, then we know the plugin we just renamed is the 1 causing the conflict.
Does that explain better?
Glad things are working. If you’ve been helped, then please mark the topic as ‘resolved’ so the forum volunteers know you’re problems been fixed to your satisfaction, & we can then go on to help others who need our assistance. Thank you.
