• I had auto-upgraded a few sites to 3.1 without any trouble, then on the last one, the one time i didn’t backup everything like prompted it broke my site. Any suggestions to this error message?

  • Your upgrade may not have completed successfully.

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

    resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

    I just wanted to follow up and say thank you so much. It took me forever to get around to it, but re-uploading everything except wp-content worked perfectly.
