The plugin only takes care of the images and doesn’t interact with the other types of media. That’s weird. I tried just now and really nothing happens when I upload a PDF, it works fine. It was an issue in a very old version of the plugin but I have never heard about this for many years now 😉
Can you try “another” PDF? Maybe the PDF you are uploading is recognized by WP or your system as an image somehow? …

Thx for the quick reply. I did try two pdfs yesterday. It looks like they had the same problem. The one I tried now did work.
Thx for the tip. I will look into the problem later, maybe there is something that could prevent this in the future.

Would be also an idea to check immediately your PHP logs when it happened so that you would know exactly where the error occurs.
