Upload images link with “;”

I oftenly use the upload feature on WP and to my understanding the settings are correctly set – but whenever I upload a file using the Upload feature of WP the link that it provides mysteriously has a “;” (colon) before it eg.

<img src=’;/blog/images/file.jpg’ alt=” /> with the colon I am never able to locate the file so now I manually have to delete the colon everytime.

Is there a workaround or is there a setting I have missed along the way
