So after hours of troubleshooting when uploading images/videos and looking a physical file permission attributes I finally determine why images were not display. It seems when uploading a new image/video it uploads (Windows Server) with “Special Permission” not read. I found thru trial and error if I “edited” the image and saved that image it would show up fine once WP created a new variation of the image. With videos I had to manually adjust the file permissions. I already changed the permissions on the upload folder and the parent folder. That had no affect…

So my question is where would I look or what could I adjust to change how images/video permissions are handled. I tried this thru several themes and disabled plugins to validate it was not the theme or plugin.

    Open to suggestions…
    Thank you in advance.

  • Howdy @cybertigertech,

That sounds like either something in your server configuration or maybe a security plugin. Can you seek help from your host to make sure that the correct file permissions are assigned when the image is first uploaded?

Thanks Eric…I FINALLY after much searching and hours found out and for others. It was the permissions on the C:\Windows\Temp folder that WP uses to upload to then moves to the content folder. Once I applied the correct permissions all is well.

Permissions need to be set on C:\Windows\Temp
