Upload to Dropbox

Hi,

I’ve been scratching my head about this one for a little while now.

I need users of my site to be able to upload very large files to my site (in excess of 1gb, possibly 2gb). Ideally I would like this to work with Dropbox and for it to be a simple page with an upload form that will place the files in my Dropbox.

I’ve found a couple of plugins that ‘allegedly’ do this. The first one, Simple Dropbox Upload, is overly simple and doesn’t seem to work at all. I’ve also tried WP-Dropbox which also is one of these ‘it’s my first plugin don’t be mean’ sort of things that didn’t work.

I had limited success with a paid one called BOXIT which worked for small files, but, despite being advertised as able to handle files up to 2gb, wouldn’t do anything over 50mb. I know some people might be thinking it’s the server upload size limit; however, I’m not 100% certain that’s the problem. Let me explain:

Server limit is 20mb files.
BOXIT allows you to upload in chunks, so I’ve been able to successfully load files up to about 40mb (double what the server should technically allow) as long as that chunk size is specified lower than 20mb. So I think that because of this it’s getting around my server limit. (I did attempt to get my provider to increase my server limit unsuccessfully and they tried to get me to pay about 10x more than what I am currently for a dedicated server which I’d like to avoid doing if possible). It fails at anything over about 50mb for some reason.

I have attempted to get in touch with BOXIT’s support team, but their forum hasn’t had an admin reply on it for over a month which isn’t exactly promising considering I need this sorted sooner rather than later.

Has anyone had success with any plugins, paid or otherwise, that act as a simple upload form directly to dropbox (or any other alternative) with larger files? It’s not crucial that it’s Dropbox but I do pay for a pro version of that so if I can use that I’d prefer it.

Really struggling with this one. Any help anyone can offer would be hugely appreciated.
