Hi @jaybocp,
You shouldn’t need to do anything additional for this functionality to activate beyond Installing and Activating the plugin.
An initial question is: is the plugin activated?
If so it should appear in your plugin list with a blue background and have “Deactivate” as an option.
If not this might be a bug or conflict with another plugin that we will need to investigate further.
Thanks!
The plugin is active. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it to double check
I have screenshots as well showing the Media page trying to upload a .musicxml file and then showing an error: “1 file could not be uploaded because an error occurred while uploading.”
@jaybocp, Thanks for verifying.
The next step for me to debug the issue would be to see where the failure is occurring; The browser network log, your wordpress error log, etc.
Is this a wordpress.com instance, or are you using other hosting?
Would you be available for a brief call/screen share this week? It might be easier to diagnose and debug that way. If so please reach out to us at: [email protected] and we can set it up there.

Closing – We discussed directly and resolved the issue.
The problem was with the new WordPress UI on WordPress.com hosts.
It blocks anything but the default MIME types from being uploaded, despite the plugin allowing them by updating the filter.
The short-term fix is to go back to the ‘classic’ UI, but they have put in a ticket to have this fixed in the new UI as well.
