Uploading images

I read most of the posts here but still having some problems uploading images for retina screens.
What I need is a png image with a size of 647×115 so i uploaded an image of 1294×230, but in the insert media menu I have options of full size, large, medium and thumbnail, however the medium is not exactly half the size but 300×57 to be precise.
In the WP2x menu it shows that thumbnail and medium size was generated but large is missing. Can someone please help of how to upload retina ready image to be exact size on the page?
