Uptime robot blocked
-
Hi;
Since the last update, the plugin is blocking some Uptime Robot visits by name even being this disabled on the Bad Bots Table.
Please, check it.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
Please copy and paste 2 or 3 rows from the Visit Logs report where the Uptime Robot was blocked.
Also, paste the content of your whitelist and the whitelist IPs.Sometimes, bots use fake user agents.
Regards,
Bill
Hi, @sminozzi;
Thank you for your quick reply.
Here you have a some rows of the visit log:03-Dec-2024 09:18:48 Denied 2600:1f16:775:3a00:ac3:c5eb:7081:942e Blocked by Name 403 GET Mozilla/5.0+(compatible; UptimeRobot/2.0; http://www.uptimerobot.com/)
03-Dec-2024 08:57:54 Denied 3.12.251.153 Blocked by Name 403 GET Mozilla/5.0+(compatible; UptimeRobot/2.0; http://www.uptimerobot.com/)
03-Dec-2024 08:06:31 Denied 3.20.63.178 Blocked by Name 403 GET Mozilla/5.0+(compatible; UptimeRobot/2.0; http://www.uptimerobot.com/)
There are more IP’s blocked from UptimeRobot.
I don’t have a whitelist, because I use the free version of the plugin, but I disabled UptimeRobot from the Bad Bots Table since I installed the plugin, and it worked perfectly until the 28th of november 2024, when it started blocking some UptimeRobot queries.
I saw that Uptime is using some new IP’s, maybe this is the problem… but it says “Blocked by Name”
Thank you so much
You are welcome.
Check the IP table and the Bad Bots table to see if their rows are disabled.
You can also do it in the free version.Hi @sminozzi;
As I said, I disabled “UptimeRobot” on the Bad Bots Table:
Nickname Name Status Num Blocked
UptimeRobot UptimeRobot Disabled 6 (before I disabled it a long time ago)The problem is that the blocked IP’s do not appear in the Bad IPs Table, so I can’t disable them. Furthermore, it says “Blocked by Name”, so I suppose that the IP is not the problem.
What else I can do?
Thank you
We haven’t made any recent changes that would justify this issue. On the other hand, I noticed that they are using Amazon’s servers, so when we ask about their servers to check if it matches the uptime, they might be responding as amazon.com. It’s possible that they recently migrated to Amazon.
Another option is to mark ‘Block Engine Management’ as ‘Conservative’ on the settings page.
Let me know if that works.
Hi, @sminozzi;
It seems that it worked. If I receive any other blocking message, I let you know.
Thank you so much!
Hi Alex Bosch
I’m glad to hear it’s working!
Thank you for your feedback.
We’d greatly appreciate it if you could leave us a 5-star review.
Best regards,Bill

Sorry, @sminozzi;
No… it keeps blocking UptimeRobot. It didn’t work. I stoped receiving messages from Uptime Robot and I thought that it was solved, but yesterday I received new messages and when I look on te Visit logs I see that it keeps blocking “By Name” all the requests from the user agent “Mozilla/5.0+(compatible; UptimeRobot/2.0; http://www.uptimerobot.com/)”
Thank you
You are welcome.
Some people try to use multiple plugins to block bots. This isn’t a good idea, as one plugin may interfere with the other’s functionality. If you’re doing this, just keep Stop Bad Bots active.
The Uptime website has a window where you can configure the ports and perform a quick check. Run a test, change the ports to HTTPS or Port 80, and see the result.
You can also change the test’s origin city. Try that as well.Then, please, let me know.
Hi, @sminozzi;
Thank you for your answer. I only use your plugin to block bots.
I tried to find what you say on the Uptime Robot website and it is not possible. Doing a search on Google, I supose that you were refering to SiteUptime (where I could do a search on every city and port without problems), not Uptime Robot (the website your plugin is blocking.
Can you please check if this incident could be related the new locations added to Uptime Robot: https://uptimerobot.com/help/locations/
Thank you
You are welcome. Some suggestions:
I use their service (uptime robot and site uptime); it’s good and works well on our server with the Pro version of Stop Bad Bots.- Try our free AntiBots plugin (don’t delete Stop Bad Bots, just deactivate it). https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/antibots/
- Try another free site monitoring tool like SiteUptime.
- Upgrade Stop Bad Bots to Premium (visit our support page, and I can provide a 30% discount coupon, so you’ll pay only about the cost of a cup of coffee per month with an annual subscription)
