No come on, it’s always been so without / category. At any moment it stopped working …
Just enable the base category slug to try if it work…. but seems this don´t work w/o these base slug, you can look at this issue in github

I think it is a plugin problem, before everything worked now no longer by 5 February. Appearance news.

The issue is with category pages not showing on AMP is as @lofesa mentioned it is related to Base category name is missing from the permalink.
But to solve the issue we have released a free extension which you can download from https://ampforwp.com/amp-category-base-remove-support/ and it will fix this issue.
As you mentioned previously it used to work when we used to add “?” and there were some issues with it and we totally updated that code and made it pretty permalinks supported. After this update, your category pages which does not have category base would have stopped.
Please install the above-mentioned extension and all your AMP pages will work without Category Base as well.

What version of plugin you have? Arxhives and categories was disabled a long time ago and just re-enabled in version 0.9.37 or 38 (i don´t remember). But make a try, enable these slug and try if it work… then disbale if you want, just to se if the slug is the issue, sure it help to the dev team to resolve

I noticed today that me has reported 404 GWT
@miclab Using AMP category base Extension should properly fix this issue.
Could you elaborate the GWT part?
