    Dear PixelYourSite,

I am writing to express serious concerns about a conflict caused by your plugin with the GA4 global tag, which has resulted in the loss of two weeks’ worth of tracking data. Identifying the root cause of this issue required significant time and effort, which has been both frustrating and disruptive to our operations.

It is critical that your plugin does not enforce GA4 functionality, particularly for users who have already implemented separate GA4 tags via other methods, such as code snippet plugins. This lack of flexibility has caused unnecessary complications and negatively impacted our ability to maintain accurate data tracking.

I urge you to address this issue as a priority. Your plugin must accommodate custom setups without causing conflicts to ensure it works seamlessly for all users.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.

    Sincerely,

  • The issue might be caused by the data layer. Please ensure you’re using the latest plugin version, clear your cache, and check again. If the problem persists, go to your Google Tag settings and select the second option for the data layer, as shown here:

If this doesn’t resolve the issue, please contact us directly so we can investigate further:

    Hi Ehamati,

Thank you for addressing this and resolving it for others. Unfortunately, I can’t accept this solution due to its unreliability, so I’ve decided to move on and install Facebook’s official plugin instead.

    Thank you again!

WOW, had the same issue on a number of sites (20+) and as original poster after several days of problem shooting and losing up to 3+ weeks of GA data finally narrowed it down to this plusing and its new implementation of enforcing GA to be ON even if ANOTHER implementation of GA exists.

A quick work around to fixing this is to TURN OFF GA in the general settings screen of the plugin and then clear any caches. That will get GA working again.

Version 10.0.3.1 fixes this problem. The plugin will not interfere with Google Tags installed by other means if there is no Google Tag ID added in our own settings.

If you don’t install GA4 with PixelYourSite (different solution is used):

    Update the plugin, clear caches.

    When PixelYourSite installs GA4:

If you use our plugin to install Google Analytics, and something else to install a Google Ads property, and if you have problems, go to our Google Tags Settings page, and under Data Layer Settings select the second option, “Disable name transformation for the data layer (use dataLayer)”. Save the new configuration, and clear caches.
