    Hi,

I’m looking for a Search plugin that allows me to control what content I search through for each Search within my site. If I can explain…

I have a site which will have many sub-sites.
It is set up so that a user enters the site and then navigates to a specific sub-site based on where they are in the UK, eg. If they live in Bristol, they would go to the http://www.site.com/bristol pages and so on.
In each of these ‘areas’ I need the Search within that area to only find results in pages that have been tagged with the ‘bristol’ ID, so a user can search for ‘plumber’ for example, within the Bristol pages, and only be returned plumber pages with the ID ‘bristol’.

I need this to work for multiple areas such as Bristol, Reading, Swindon, London etc. So, effectively different searches in
    http://www.site.com/bristol/
    http://www.site.com/reading/
    http://www.site.com/swindon/
    http://www.site.com/london/
    etc

    Can this plugin do this?

Sorry, but I am really new to WordPress and I’m not sure if all the terminology I’ve used above is correct, but hopefully you can let me know whether this plugin could do this and how I may do it.

    Many many thanks,
    Paul.

    Hey there,

We’re not checking these forums as much atm moment as all work is on a new update for the pro plugin (you can notice the sticky at the top of this forum).

Anyway, from you description I believe S&F Pro can do what you need, as you can include/exclude tags and categories from search results without user input.

S&F free does not have this feature which I believe you need.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply, and sorry to be a pain with one further question/clarification.

Can you please just clarify that your plugin can allow me to set up multiple search forms which can each have different parameters to search pages that have different tags.

It is critical that I can have many search forms all of which search in different groups/sets of pages within my website structure.

Thanks again and I hope you can clarify this above.
If your plugin can do the above, then I will purchase.

    Cheers!

    Hey there, yes you can!

Just to let you know I’m working on some fixes for the Pro version at the moment due to some bugs that have arisen in WP 4.2 update – should be complete in the next 24hrs.

    Thanks

    That’s absolutely great – thanks.
I hope that the bug fixes go well.
I hope to purchase within the next few days.

    Thanks again!!

Sorry just one more question on the Pro version.
I’m going to purchase the Pro version for the $20 option.
Can you please specify what this includes?
ie. Am I buying the plugin for a one-off charge of $20 which will then give me a working version and enable me to upgrade into the future?
Basically I just want to know whether there will be further charges in the future, and what the charges will be for, if I were to keep the plugin for the foreseeable future, which I hope to!
    Thanks.

Hey again, so single site license and dev are exactly the same – except for the number of sites it can be used on.

The $20 fee is for 1 year of support and upgrades, after this year, you may continue to use the plugin as long as you like, but you must renew your license if you wish to receive further plugin updates/support.

    Thanks!

    That’s fine – thanks.
I thought that would be the case.
So, I’ll hop over to the DesignsAndCode.com site and make the purchase.
This thread can be closed. Thanks!
