Hi there. I’m using The Events Calendar free version 5.16.1.1 and WP version 6.0.
If in the settings I flag the use of Gutenberg with events, in the event backend page I can’t scroll down to the events metabox, therefore it’s impossible to insert event date and time or other custom fields.

If the option is disabled everything works fine, but I can’t use Gutenberg, even by pressing the grey Gutenberg button on the top.

Is anybody experiencing the same issue?

  • Hi @pasamedia,

I’ll be glad to help you with this. It’s possible that using the block editor with Events may look a bit different than you’re expecting 😀

Please see this screenshot of the Add New Event screen in the block editor. Clicking the Settings button in the upper right corner will open a sidebar with additional Event-related options.

Clicking directly on a block, such as the Event Date & Time block in this screenshot, will toggle the configuration options in the sidebar for that specific block.

Does this help? Or, if I’m misunderstanding the issue, can you please share a screenshot with me of what you’re seeing on your end?

    Thank you,
    Erica

    Hi Erica

Thanks for your help, first of all.
Fact is, I’m not experiencing the same event insertion that you showed, unfortunately… If I enable the metabox or disable it, the risult is the same: the scrolling is stuck and I can’t access to the fields where the informations can be filled. Please see this attachment screencast here.

I didn’t experience the same result when The Events Calendar was deactivated, nor if I disable the usage of Gutenberg, then I’m guessing there’s some kind of plugin conflict here which interferes with scrolling down in the event page.

    Any ideas? Thanks

Hi @pasamedia. Thanks for getting back to us. Yes, there might be a conflict with your theme or another plugin. It’s worth testing for conflicts. See the article here: https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/.

We’d recommend conducting these tests on a Staging Server. Please keep a working backup of your website as well.

Let me know how it goes.

    Best,
    Abz

Hi there, I tested every plugin (deactivating them one-by-one), but didn’t find the incompatible plugin and didn’t come up with a solution… Any ideas?

    Hello @pasamedia,

Thanks for getting back to me here. Sorry to hear about this.

I’m curious what is the theme you’re using? Could you also provide us with a direct link to your website? Moreover, could you provide me the versions of the following:
    1. WordPress
    2. PHP
    3. The Events Calendar Plugin

Looking forward to helping you with this one.

    Best,
    Abz

Hi there. Sorry for disappearing. I’m still experiencing the same issue after a few updates, now I’m running The Events Calendar free version 5.16.4 and WP version 6.0.1.

Let’s try to better explain the issue… If in the settings I flag the use of Gutenberg with events, in the event backend page I can’t scroll down to the events metabox, therefore it’s impossible to insert event date and time or other fields.
If the option is disabled everything works fine, but I can’t use Gutenberg, even by pressing the grey Gutenberg button on the top.
I tried to check if it’s a problem of height (solvable with CSS), but it seems the box is not filled at all, and it seems empty.

    Here’s a screenshot: https://core.trac.ww.wp.xz.cn/attachment/ticket/56464/gutenberg-events-calendar.png.

Everything is up-to-date, I tried to change versions and it seems the same, php is 7.4. I deactivated all plugins and changed theme, nothing changed.
