Hmm, this sounds odd! Can you let me know if you have anything entered into the Excerpt field on your Testimonial? If so, that may bypass the auto-excerpting functionality.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “delete the testimonial content” — do the excerpts show if there is essentially no testimonial, but an empty testimonial?

I am having the same issue. It was working fine a couple days ago and now the show excerpt function is not working. It is showing the full testimonial unless I delete the full testimonial. Then it shows the excerpt fine. Like I said, it worked fine a few days ago and all of a sudden it no longer works right. Any suggestions?
yes, there is text inserted into the excerpt field in the testimonial. and yes ans you wrote the exerpt shows only if there is no text in the testimonial field.
I have tried sveral free themes but the result is the same.
can you also please help witht he “read more” issue?

Quick follow up question – if you remove the text from the Excerpt field and keep the Testimonial text in place, does the software then correctly auto-excerpt the Testimonial for you?

Hi Richard,
I’m having the same issue. I have full text in the testimonial, and hand-crafted manual excerpts in the excerpt field.
I’m using the testimonials in the widget in my sidebar. If both field values are in place, the full testimonial displays, and not the manual excerpt as it was doing previously.
If I remove the full testimonial, and leave the manual excerpt in place, the manual excerpt displays correctly.
If I remove the manual excerpt and leave the full testimonial in place, it does NOT create an auto-excerpt, and still uses the full testimonial.
The only field I have checked for display in the widget settings is “Use Testimonial Excerpt”.

This updated version fixed the same problem I was having with Excerpt not working with previous version.
however I now have a new issue:
widget:
Excerpt works
the “continue reading” now appears at the end of all the excerpts.
Testimonial Excerpt Options:
I disabled the “Link Excerpts to Full Testimonial”.
hyperlink has disappeared but the words are still there.
temp fix is to use “.” to replace text in “except text” option. Not ideal but works.
