Plugins that manage meta tags in webpage headers (like NGFB), and plugins that post URLs to social websites, are two different kinds of plugins. NGFB adds meta tags to your webpages so social crawlers can get accurate information about your webpage. Whether you use an automated process to share your webpages, or users click a sharing button, or paste the URL in a timeline or private message, does not matter — the social website crawler still needs to read your webpage meta tags.

BTW, if you don’t need the social sharing buttons included with NGFB, have a look at WPSSO — a fork (aka child) of NextGEN Facebook (NGFB). They have the same author, many of the same excellent features, but WPSSO is distributed without the sharing buttons and their related features. As a result, WPSSO is 25% smaller and is often preferred for websites that already have (or don’t need) a set of sharing buttons. Additional extension plugins are also available for WPSSO, including:
* WPSSO App Meta
* WPSSO Place and Location Meta
* WPSSO Social Sharing Buttons

Great, many thanks for your feedback.
From what I understand, I definitely rather need WPSSO and I’ll install it asap.
Thanks again!
