User data gone after field options edit

    In Profile form I have a drop down field lets example:

    Marital Status:
    Single
    Widow
    Married

    Now there are 100 users in my site who have registered and filled the form, now as per users feedback I edit 2nd option, now it becomes like this:

    Marital Status:
    Single
    Widow / Widower
    Married

    After updating, the Marital Status field of all user is blank now and does not show in their profile! Is this a bug?

    I had the same issue when I changed the way users fill in work experience. After I changed it the sectioen “Work experince” was gone and it didn’nt matter what I did to solve it. Nothing worked.

    I did a test to see what happens if I create a new user after I made changes in the form. I found out that the user I created after I made the changes has no problems with the new form. Old users however can’t see the fields that I changed.

    It seems that you can’t change the forms after having registred users.

    Hi @mazharhashmi,

    It should be possible to fix this by making changes in the user_meta table and changing Widow to Widow / Widower in your database.
    We have plans to add this feature and eliminate this issue in the future 3.0 core update.
