User Image Uploads & site security

Hi All!
I may be tilting windmills or making mountains out of molehills but I’ll ask the question anyhow. I have a site going up where registered users can upload images for a slideshow, etc. Basically my question is this one: is there a security/anti-virus type plugin that scans files being uploaded for malware or bad code as they are being uploaded to prevent the problem in the first place?

I’m seeing scans after the fact etc, but none that specifically mention this case. Me I trust, others I’d like a decent layer of security.
