    Hi Yannick

When a user submits a link suggestion, I have configured things such that the email goes to a (non WordPress admin) colleague for moderation. He reports back to me and I then approve or reject the link as he suggests.

There are a couple of additions to the email that would make his life easier.

    1. Could you include the category name as well as the category id? (This would save him having to look up the name in a table of IDs I have given him.)

    2. Could you make the link a hyperlink, so that he can click on it to check it out rather than having to copy and paste it from email to browser?

Neither is urgent but ‘nice to have’.

    Thanks

Check out the new version I will have out a bit later today for both of these features.

    Gosh that was quick! Thanks.

Tried it out and the hyperlink works but the category name is not appearing in the email. Instead, the category ID is now included in brackets,e.g.
    Link Category: ( 67 )

Can I make a couple more (non-urgent) requests?

    3. In the email that gets sent to the administrator, could you include only those fields that are not blank? (i.e. only the fields that the user has filled in.)

There are several fields we don’t use, so having all these fields appear in the email with no content makes the email a bit cluttered. Perhaps this could/should be an option in the settings, in case other administrators want these fields to be included in the email even if they are blank.

And, regarding the emails that get sent to the submitter:

    4. In the email that gets sent to the submitter when he/she fills in the link suggestion form, could you add in a copy of the details he/she submitted or, at the least, the link they submitted? Some of our users may well submit several link suggestions and having a record of these in their email would help, should they need to make any follow-up queries.

    5. In the email that gets sent to the submitter when their link is approved or rejected, would it be possible to include the link that has been approved/rejected? In the case where someone has submitted more than one link, this would tell them which link this email refers to.

    Hi Yannick,

I note you have flagged this thread as resolved, however, the inclusion of the category name in the email is still not working for me. (I have upgraded to 5.9.12.5)

    Are you looking into that?

And, though not urgent, it would be nice to have some response to my suggestions 3, 4 & 5 to let me know whether you may be able to implement them.

    Thanks.

Don’t worry. I know the category name issue is still there.

And yes, I can do all other points. Just need to find time.

Superb! Thanks. Will stop harassing you and wait patiently.

    Just released a new version.

Category name now shows correctly in e-mail.
Only putting fields that were in form in notification e-mail.
Added data fields to user e-mail.

As for question number 5, if you want information about the link submitted, you need to use the following placeholders in the body of your approval and rejection messages, as configuration under the Moderation section of the General Settings:

    %linkname%
    %submittername%
    %linkurl%

    Tried out 5.8.12.7.
Category name now shows in the email. Thanks.
And your answer to Q5 also works. Thanks.

But some of the input data fields are now missing from the email. I guess this is an unwanted side-effect of your update to omit blank fields.

    My form includes
    Link name
    Link address
    Link category
    Submitter name
    Submitter email
    Large Description
    Submitter comment
but now only the first 3 of these fields are included in the email.
I can’t implement this update in my live system as the link moderator requires all the information in the email to do his checks.

    Please try 5.8.12.8.
