okay, so first you need to check if emails are trying to be sent
so install
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/check-email/
and enable the logs
you can then see if the website is trying to send or not even getting to that stage, then come back

Yes sir Mr. Wilson 😉
Plugin is installed and tried to sent two emails. One with the @function and the other was using the reply button. None reached the test recipient. No logs were generated.
Or, did you mean use the “send test email” from the plugin?

My bad. The @ function is working (received) as well as the “test email” received fine. It is just they went all to the spam folder which is why i didn’t see them
But the bbpress reply function (on the top right corner of every post) i am not sure. Are users supposed to get a notification email when an user chooses to reply to their posts by using the particular reply?
Thanks

No, they will get a notification only if they have subscribed to the topic.

In think maybe weare talking of two diffrent things. Please allow me to explain.
Say someone strated a thread(topic). 20 people replied to that thread. Each with one reply. I call the individual replies “posts”. As i undersatnd it, one can and usally subscribes to threads, not individual posts on a thread.
What i was asking eralier is, if one person decided to respond to a particular post out of the 20 replies ( on the thread) and clicks opn the reply button which is on upper right corner of each indicidual post (on the thread), my understanding is the author of that individual post will be notified. Do i undersatnd it correctly?

so you are using ‘threaded replies’.
Given bbpress current logic, i see no reason why it would send a reply to a reply unless the recipient was subscribed to the topic. Indeed if it did, there would not be a way to switch that off, so i suspect not.
