Users roles
-
Hi,
I would like to purchase your plugin, but I have a question about role permissions.
I need the plugin to show the client the progress of the project and keep them updated, so I would need the client to only be able to view the project without being able to modify anything.
I would like them to have permission only to write in the discussion.
Is it possible to set the permissions for a role so that it can only do this?
Thanks
Margherita

Hi,
Thanks for the question.
It is possible to allow users to only view projects and not edit them by going to Zephyr > Settings > General Settings and removing the “Edit Projects” permission for the role and adding the “View Projects” permission. The same thing can be done with tasks too.
You can add the “Can Comment” permission to allow sending comments in the discussion tab.
I hope this helps and please let me know if you have any other questions. I’m more than happy to help.
Kindest regards,
Dylan
Thanks for your reply, I set the user as you instructed, but I’m encountering an issue: with the Zephyr – user role, I can’t see the files, they’re only visible within the discussion tab, but not in the “Files” tab. Is this a configuration issue or a bug?
There’s also an issue with the admin role: files don’t upload through the “Files” tab, only when I attach them to a comment in the task’s discussion tab.

MargheritaHi,
This seems to be a jQuery library conflict. I’ve added a change that should fix this and avoid any conflicts.
Could I kindly ask you to install the latest updated version, clear the cache (if using any caching plugins) and confirm if this resolves it?
Thanks and sorry for the trouble.
Kindest regards,
Dylan
Hi Dylan, thank you for your feedback.
I’m sorry, the file upload from the “Files” tab of the tasks is now working, but it no longer works from the comments in the “Discussion” tab, neither in the project nor in the tasks. Nothing happens, not even the JavaScript console shows any details.
From the “Files Manager” page in the Zephyr menu, the upload works poorly instead: the files are uploaded, but the preview thumbnail shows a doc file icon, and clicking on it links to a blank page.
The user with the “Zephyr – User” role still cannot see the files in the “Files” tab.
Thank you for your support
Kind regards
MargheritaHi,
I apologize for the annoyance.
Could I please ask you to install the latest updates now (Basic V3.3.200 and Pro 3.3.39) and confirm if this resolves the issue.
If the issue persists, could I ask to confirm the following:
- In Zephyr > Settings > General Settings, do you have the “Enable extended file uploader with external link input” setting enabled?
- On the same page, do you have the “Allow users to only view own files” option enabled?
- Does this issue occur in the backend as well as the frontend?
I look forward to helping get this fixed as soon as possible.
Best regards,
Dylan

Request for calendar command links within Projects, Tasks and subtasks
Good evening.
I wanted to ask if it would be possible to integrate a calendar entry within the projects, activities and sub-activities section. This is used to create events directly in the section where you are and consult the calendar.
This function allows you to quickly create a deadline in the calendar by updating it immediately and then seeing which project, task or subtask has been created and by whom.
Ultimately, it is a link to entries already present in the tabs.
It would be nice if it could be updated in the next few days, as it is nothing to employ.
Kind regards and thanks for your attention.

Hi Roberto,
Thanks for getting in touch.
I’d be happy to add the feature, I just need a bit more clarification about what exactly it would look like.
Projects, tasks, and subtasks are currently displayed on the calendar page, so would this create a new entry in the calendar or am I misunderstanding?
Looking forward to your response and getting this implemented as soon as possible.
Thanks.
Kindest regards,
Dylan
