Using Custom Templates & Same-Sidebar Templates Broken

    Thanks for the awesome plugin! It was working perfectly up until the 2.0.0 update.

    Issue 1: How do we define and use custom templates? Is there documentation on how to do this anywhere?

    Issue 2: Using the same template for widgets in the same sidebar breaks all UPW widgets except the first one in that sidebar. The first two widgets are displayed properly only when using two different templates, but any additional widgets in that sidebar will apparently not display no matter which templates are used in the first two widgets. (I’ve only tested this with 3-4 UPW widgets, but I’m guessing it will happen with 5+ UPW widgets as well.)

    For example…

    Sidebar Widget 1: Legacy template – OK
    Sidebar Widget 2: Legacy template – Broken
    Sidebar Widget 3+: Any template – Broken
    ***
    Sidebar Widget 1: Standard template – OK
    Sidebar Widget 2: Standard template – Broken
    Sidebar Widget 3+: Any template – Broken
    ***
    Sidebar Widget 1: Standard template – OK
    Sidebar Widget 2: Legacy template – OK
    Sidebar Widget 3+: Any template – Broken
    ***
    Sidebar Widget 1: Legacy template – OK
    Sidebar Widget 2: Standard template – OK
    Sidebar Widget 3+: Any template – Broken

    Any help you can give would be very much appreciated!

    Thanks for the detailed report, will get issue #2 fixed asap. It’s a test case I unfortunately overlooked…

    For custom templates, there is some documentation on the front of the plugin page under “templates” heading (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/ultimate-posts-widget/). If anything is unclear, I’m open to suggestions!

    I’ve pushed out 2.0.1 to fix this issue #2. I also tried to improve documentation a bit as well and moved all the information to the FAQ tab.

    Can you let me know if 2.0.1 solves your issues?

    if i use two custom template one don’t work

    Hello Boston,

    It seems this is what I was running into earlier – the thing with the templates and the number of CPTs using them.

    Looks like 2.0.1 fixes the multiple widget problem! And thanks for the custom template documentation — that will be a handy feature for a lot of folks.

    (While testing earlier, I had also run into another issue you fixed, where the widget screwed up the rest of the page if you didn’t specify a title. Glad that’s sorted out too!)
