Can custom .png icons be added to the images file to add new rating icons? I do a food review blog and for example when I rate a barbecue restaurant would like to use a pig’s face instead of stars.
I tried creating an .png file identical to the ones in the plugin but in calling the 06.png file it gave an error message, so I’m assuming that somewhere in the coding the five included images are hooked.

Got it figured out, I made .png’s for each of the sizes and it’s working like I wanted now.

The next thing is to figure out where the sizing is being inherited from within my style.css and tweak that some.

Sorry I was too late to answer your question!

Is there still something I can do for you?

As a side comment: In the admin panel you can set the size of the stars (or pig’s face in your case). This is where the plugin chooses which picture it shall use. You should create images in different sizes because browsers down- or upsizing isn’t that beautiful why I implemented it that way.

And the other thing is: It looks like wordpress deletes and reinstalls the plugin after an update. That means that your images will be deleted, too. So make sure you have a copy of these images to reinstall them. If you have a “high res” picture you want to share with the community just send it to me via email (usr @ cizero.de) and I will include it in the next update (if it’s pretty enough ;D).

Please note that I’m a bit busy till next year. I will check this forum as soon as I can.

Thanks Chasil for you informative reply. I found the resizing setting in the menu. I’ll try to send you the two images I’ve used. I haven’t published anything using your plug-in yet but will be doing so shortly. After the first of the year you can check my website for the latest review and it should have the new piggy icons for the scoring.

Evidently I can’t do a link in this forum, I’ll try it again This one goes to an article I just updated with the piggy review system.

    Thank you.

I have to edit them a bit so that they work properly. I will include them inside the next update.

    Hi,
I’ve seen you changed the icon to pig instead of stars (really nice!)
I’ve tried to change the image as well but it’s written ERROR.

    What should I do?

    Thanks!!!

To change the image you have to go into the plug-in itself. Then you have to create your custom images to match each size. Almost a necessity to have Photoshop or some other graphics editing program to resize everything.
It is a case of trial and error if you’ve never done it before but it’s just a matter of copying everything that Chasil has already done for the plug-in graphics.
The down side as Chasil pointed out to me was that when he upgrades the plug-in, then it will blow away your custom icons so be sure to make a copy of everything you do.
The alternative would be to confer with Chasil and see if he will add as a plug-in included icon.

    harley130,

    thanks for supporting the plugin!

I have some good news for you. USR now supports a custom images directory which can be configured inside the admin panel. If this directory exist the images inside of its subfolders (will be generated by USR) can be used like the standard ones. That means you don’t need to backup your own files if you use this feature because this folder won’t be deleted by the update mechanism of wordpress. Just make sure this directory is not inside the plugins folder.

    Regards
