Using Ip address instead of localhost

    Hi,

    1.All is well using localhost/website.

    2.All is well (after some setup) using 192.168.0.101/website
    EXCEPT:

    JetPak plugins won’t work because jetpak cannot connect.
    To make #2 work I had to change “siteurl” and “blogurl” from
    localhost to 192.168.0.101.
    If I now go to Plugins>Jetpak it says “Click on the connect button to finish activating” I do-did that:-). and it says it cannot connect.

    If I change the url settings back to localhost I can connect just fine from my computer and another computer in the house BUT then my pages don’t display correctly from the “other” computer. so I do need to use the ip method. My roommate and I share development of sites and need to see each other websites that we are building.

    I am sure the Code gods at WordPress can find a simple solution.
    (I find sucking up really helps 🙂

    Hi David,

    I’d try adding this line to your wp-config.php file
    define ('JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG', true);

    Jetpack is auto-enabling JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG when you load from localhost but when you use your IP address you need to set it explicitly.

    Your Mom gave you a really unusual name 🙂

    Thank you. I put the command in wp-config.php with comments so I will remember why. And it worked great! no more Jetpack error.

    Thanks for getting back so quickly. I didn’t expect that.
