Using PHP within PEAR rather than external 3rd party service?

    Hello, we are trying to set up a WordPress site on a pre-existing web server, where the WordPress outgoing emails are handled by the web server itself, as opposed to creating an additional account with a 3rd Party SMTP Mail Service. The web server carries an old hand-coded PHP website, which used PHP inside “PEAR” on the server, to send out the automated mails… I am wondering if your plugin can be set up to also use the internal PEAR system in the same way?
