Using Post-id for permanlink

Hi

When I install WP (waiting for 2.5)I’m considering using just the post-id in the permalink instead of the date…
domain.com/blog/423/post-name/

Will I still be able to use the calendar/ archives in the sidebar?

Will this cause any more problems?
I’ve seen one here…

And is there any way to remove the /blog/ from the permalink?
