• Hello all…

I’m using the Links manager to handle most of the content on a particular site I’m running with WordPress 1.22, and it appears the search function does not natively search those links and their descriptions, only the blogs. Is there a way to alter this?

  • I’m using WP 1.5 and would also really love to have my Links be included in the search. Any ideas or plugins?

If I’m understanding your questions correctly, do you mean that much of your content is in Pages, and you would like the search to include page content in the search in addition to post content?

If that’s the case, see the SearchPages plugin.

Not in my case – I am wanting the include the Links (the ones you set up in the Admin site using the Links manager). Currently all the main blog entries are searched, but not the Links that are added in this manager. I am using these links as a kind of ‘miniblog’ of sorts, listing useful or interesting links I come across for future reference. The links manager is handy becuase you can categorise these links, but unfortunately they do not natively come up in the search.

The *contents* of the target links or the URLs of the links?

I don’t think there’s any hope of searching remote sites.

The URL and description of the Links is what I’m after here. For instance, if I have a Link called “Fred” and I describe it as “Fred hangs around in his house,” if someone searches for Fred or house, I’d like that result to come up.

    Yep, likewise for me.

I’ve been looking for this for ages… – anybody got a clue how to do that?
