Using Shortcode in the expanding Contentarea

Hello,
a few days ago I found your great plugin grider.
I have a quick question: I want to integrate a slideshow into the expanding contentarea. With a shortcode [smartslider slider=1]. The shortcode will not be executed. My try withapply_filters('the_content', get_the_content());were not successful either.
Is it even possible to render a shortcode in the context area?
I am thankful for every hint.Best regards and thanks in advance
