Hello – what a great and easy plugin! Thank you so much.

I have one question – it is about URL and referrer

Here is what I want to achieve and I thought this would be the solution.

I have a survey and at the end of the survey, people get directed to a special site where they can download free items. So after the survey, I link them to the site.

Now – I do not want them to be able to simply copy and paste the URL and send that to friends without going through the survey first.

My thoughts have been I use URL and referrer and that way only if they come through a link from my site they would be reaching that site otherwise they land on the survey beginning.

Is that even correct will that work? and how would I set that up – if you could guide me to an example that would be great – I am nowhere near a pro in WP or URL technics. I found your manual under https://redirection.me/support/matching-redirects/ but it is a little bit too much for me to understand if that is the solution or how I set the workflow with it.

If you or anybody know of an easier way to do it if this is not the right way, then please advise either way – very thankfully already that you take the time to read!
    Best M

As it mentions on the support page, referrer information is not guaranteed, and can be easily faked. It is not something you should use for access control of anything important.

There’s not much more to say that the guide doesn’t already provide. You enter the URL of the referring page, and put the target URL you want to redirect people to if this is or is not matched.

thank you so much for the fast response.
we only need to make sure a simple copy paste would not work and the links only comes from our own site but it seems I am doing the referral wrong or is it possible that WordPress isn’t sending a referral from our own site as said I am not a pro user at all. And it’s not that we have to guard it heavily but don’t want people make it easy to skip the couple questions we have.
