Hello @peterfasol. When you want to group together the data and reports from multiple websites’ domain names into the same website in Matomo, you have two solutions:
- you can setup Cross Domain linking in Matomo to ensure that your visitors will be accurately tracked across domains into the same visit. Learn how to setup cross-domain tracking in our FAQ How do I accurately measure a same visitor across multiple domain names?
- you can create a new Roll-Up and group the websites together. Roll-up reporting lets you aggregate the reports of multiple websites you select into a Roll-Up. You can create an unlimited number of Roll-ups. Learn more in the Roll-Up reporting user guide.
Hi @emermatomo
Thanks for your reply. To be clear, i am using the Matomo WordPress plugin. I am not using the self hosted package nor a premium package.
Also, my question was not about tracking a visitor correctly across 2 domains, it was if tracking a user on the non-wordpress part of my website (in a subdirectory, not a subdomain), was possible at all, since nothing there is currently being tracked.
That said, i tried the suggestions you offered. The first one was not possible since i had to enter a password, but using the WordPress plugin one is not provided with a separate password.
The second option was for the premium package only, which i am not using.
So, still at a loss, unfortunately.

Hello @peterfasol upon checking, the tracking code should work just fine on your other website. However, please take note that you won’t be able to separate the visits from each website. What I would recommend is to switch to Matomo On-Premise which you can add 2 website and track them separately.
Thanks @emermatomo i have been able to make it work!
For those using TNG: i tried adding it to meta.php, that didn’t work.
Use this method instead: in your admin panel, general settings/site definition, add the code to the field ‘Custom footer message’. That works.
